L'oreal 8HR Infallible Le Gloss in Suede and GiveawayWinners!

First, I'd like to congratulate the winners of our giveaway, Katie M. and Nila K.!  We'll email you soon, it's been a little busy around here- I'm preparing to go home for a month while working and having a friend visit!  Thanks so much everyone for joining, it honestly wouldn't have been this much fun without any of you!  We'll be having another giveaway soon, with bigger and better prizes, so stay on the lookout!

Ooh and Happy July 4th to our American peeps!

I picked up this gloss recently on a BOGO.  I was going to a party, and I forgot my lipstick, and I really wanted the new Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, but Revlon was on sale too, and that and any color I was interested in was sold out.  I did want to get the L'oreal perfecting base and since there was a BOGO, I got it for around $5.

From the bottle, it looks gorgeous!  A pinkish nude *packed* with gold duochrome shimmer.  I think that's what really sold me, I LOVE glosses with duochrome shimmer.  Plus I hadn't tried this line yet, so I wanted to give it a shot.
Here's what the company says: "Infallible 8HR Le Gloss has an improved hydrating formula that keeps lips softer, smoother, more colorful and glossier for eight shining hours.  The patented Petit Couer applicator contours lips precisely, giving you a smooth, even, flawless finish every time.  Available in a range of 20 sheer, luminous shades that stay true without changing, fading or dulling.  Use it together with Infallible Never Fail Makeup for a perfectly polished, long-lasting look.  No topcoats.  No feathering.  No fading.  It has to be infallible.  The proof is in the wear."

The applicator is similar to the one in Maybelline's stain gloss, so I liked it.  I do prefer this type of applicator since it grabs more product and it did make application simple.  The product is smooth when applied, but then turns sort of tacky on the lips.  I suppose it has to in order to have staying power.  It also lightly smells amazing, like cake batter!

I wished I had known it was going to be that sheer before purchase however, because that night I really wanted a lipstick!  It was sheerer than I expected, but it is pretty.  It does color the lips a little though.  Here's a picture of it just applied without and with flash:

So did it stand the 8hr test of time?  Well, it kind of did.  Any color the gloss provides wore off, (though it's hard to tell in the pic) but half of the shimmer was still there!  This is after I ate and drank too.

I liked:
*The duochrome shimmer was amazing!
*The heavenly cake batter smell
*It does have some staying power

I didn't like:
*The sheerness, as I already have other sheer glosses
*It was a little tacky, but it's a color stay so I understand.  It also didn't bother me all that much.

Would I buy it again?  I have so many other glosses I'd like to try so I'm not sure.  Not for the full price (around $10) anyway, if I got another it would definitely be on sale.  Not a bad product though.
