Milani Illuminating Powder Amber Nectar and Elf Studio Fan Brush

Milani just recently came out with a new line of face powders that can be used as bronzer, blush, highlighter or a general illuminator (depending on how much or little product you apply.) There are three in the series, I chose the lightest/pinkest shade since I'm so fair, but they all seem really pretty.

First, I love the rose mosaic design! It's just so pretty, and the good part is it doesn't immediately disappear after use, it will take some time for it to go away. You get a good amount of product for the price, about $10 for .035 oz/10 g. Amber nectar is a soft pinky bronze with a pearly finish, which looks like peach when uniformly applied. It's pretty hard to use the colors separately unless you use them as eyeshadow, which is ok with me since I bought it as a face powder, and I will use it as such. The bottom label shows how to use the product and suggests using a kabuki style brush to use as bronzer. I have an Urban Decay kabuki brush, I will give it a shot. For now, I bought the Elf Studio fan brush to use the product as a highlighter.

It was very hard for me to swatch, because the application was either too light for the camera to pick up, or when I applied more, it looked like a bruise on my fair skin! However, when applied properly it is uniform and very pretty.

The Elf Studio fan brush isn't the best quality brush ever, it is a little flimsy which makes it a little hard to pick up pressed powders, (there is a plus side to that, it does make it that you don't overdo it!) but for $3, it does the job. I don't use highlighter everyday, only on special occasions, so it really isn't a big deal to me. It's cheap, and it works, so that's good enough for me!

  1. The ELF fan brush is my least favorite but you have to get they're set when ever they go on sale. I've had mine for a year and a few months and they're just as great as my other expensive ones. And as for Milani products they're awesome.

  3. So pretty, love the roses :) I've not tried Milani products but I have heard really positive reviews about their blushes/highlighters.
